Each piece in this collection starts with a Quranic verse or prophetic saying, chosen for how it reads as calligraphy and for what it will mean in the room it ends up in. The two decisions are made together, because a verse that looks right on the wall but sits oddly in the space is the wrong verse.
The calligraphy is burned into the wood by hand, a technique called pyrography, on sourced walnut and maple panels. The grain becomes part of the design rather than a surface to hide: knots and colour shifts carry a warmth that no manufactured board has. Border patterns are cut by hand with traditional tools, drawing on the geometric and floral motifs of Ottoman and Andalusian decorative work.
Several coats of natural oil finish the piece, protecting the wood and deepening its colour as the years pass. The verse and the panel both age into something richer than the day they left the workshop.
These are reminders of gratitude, patience, and purpose more than they are decorations. Each one is made with niyyah, the Arabic word for intention, and that intention shows in every burn mark and carved line, and in the hours of quiet work behind them.
